Behind the Scenes: 2014 in Review

Filed in: Business

I’m not going to lie, this is always one of my favorite blogs posts all year. While I normally get to showcase my beautiful clients on my blog, here, I get to show you what happens behind the scenes, which is usually a whole lot of ridiculousness and fun. I truly love my job. I love my clients, vendors, and my awesome second shooters who I bring along. SO sit back, relax, and brace yourself, as you get to experience a day in the life… 🙂

When I’m not a full-time photographer, I also like to clean your tables…

Apparently, I use a very distinctive posing technique while instructing. I lovingly refer to it as THE ROBOT CLAW.2014-12-29_00402014-12-29_00412014-12-29_0042

I guess I didn’t get the memo. Whoops. Wrong boots.

When you wear a lot of the same outfits to every wedding, sometime you get a little creative. Please stop me next time…

(Okay, this next one deserves a story)

I was shooting my best friend’s wedding so I spent a lot of time finding THE dress to wear. I spent the morning helping with wedding details and didn’t allot myself the time needed to properly “get ready”. Therefore, no shower, hardly any makeup. Add dress. Now, I need to take photos, remove cute shoes. Add boots. Now it’s freezing. Husband lends me his jacket. WHAALAH. Fashionista extraordinaire.

Sometimes I like to bust out my rhymes. And nobody finds it amusing.

A short girls gotta do what a short girls gotta do.

I will do anything for a good shot.

OH. Are you done with that? Let me hold that for you.

And then my back hurts from all of the holding.

The things I will do for a ring shot…

Want to test your lights or have a dance party?

Sometimes I have a hard time visualizing my shot, so I just need to try it out first to see if I like it…

Yah. I should probably stop making those faces.

Um. I have no explanation.

I would like to call this compilation, “Hey, second shooter, go stand over there so I can test my shot.” I have had some pretty amazing second shooters this past year who make my job SO much fun!

2014 has truly been amazing and I am SO grateful.

Oh. And this? Don’t worry about it.

A huge thanks to my incredible second shooters that I’ve had this year:

Laura Marchbanks

Jessie Deal

Cheryl Ford

Ike Haynes

Marissa Rick

Jeff Shipley

Rachel Solomon

HEYOOOOOO…. Gems. And proud to say the most ridiculous of these seem to have come from our weddings 🙂 The normal BTS images I caption… “hey melissa, get out of my shot!”
